Delete the font from the System file (all sizes. With Monaco, Chicago and Geneva, delete as many sizes as the computer will allow). Then, reinstall the font from a current system / font disk. Check the computer to make sure that only one version of the font is installed.
Explanation: Character spacing problems occur for four known reasons:
- The font is a pre - System 5 font, which lacks all the font information required by MacDraw II
- The font itself is corrupt.
- A font is installed from two different sources (e.g., both the TrueType and Adobe versions of Helvetica are installed). If so, delete one of the fonts.
- The font exists in two places (e.g., using Suitcase or Master Juggler, the computer is accessing a font that exists in both the System file and a suitcase file, or in multiple suitcase files). Be sure that all installed sizes of a font reside in the same file (either the System file or a suitcase file).
