MacDraw II 1.0v4 released October, 1988.
Resolved these issues:
- ImageWriter I, II and LQ can print in 50%, 33% and 66% reduction, and Faster quality.
- Tektronix 4693 now prints at 75 or 150 dpi (this takes significantly less memory).
- Large (over 32K) scanned PICTs are handled better.
- Complex polygons with up to 500 vertices can now be printed to a LaserWriter (or any other PostScript printer).
- Fractional Character Widths can be turned off in Preferences. This can be used to eliminates clipping of text objects exported via the clipboard.
- More precise alignment of text and graphics when printing.
- Displays System and ROM information, including System and ROM versions. Hold down the Option key and choose About MacDraw II.
- Exports rotated rectangles without getting the rotated and unrotated objects. Due to a change in the System 6.0.2 software, PostScript printers will not print rotated rectangles exported, or saved as PICT files using earlier versions of MacDraw II. This has been remedied in version 1.0v4, but you will need to re-save the PICT file or re-export those rotated rectangles.
- Layer problem fixed. After using 1.0v4, try selecting the objects and pasting them into a new layer, in a new file. Symptoms include: crashing in a one particular layer. In previous versions, deleting an object and then immediately saving could cause a layer crasher.
- MacDraw files opened in MacDraw II retain their letter spacing.
Problems discovered with this version:
- Brought lower resolution for non-Postscript printers, including the LaserWriter SC and all ImageWriters.
- Printed rotated text is now unacceptable, due to lower print resolution
- LaserWriter IISC: Returns are arbitrarily added and deleted in printed text
- Carriage returns were stripped out when the file was saved as PICT
- ImageWriter I, II must use Tall Adjusted to get WYSIWYG output
- Diagonal polygon lines are thicker than vertical or horizontal
- Random printing streaks appear in printouts, occurrences increased
- Polygons were re-defined and standard arrowheads are larger than arrow heads in earlier versions
- Grouping-Library crasher bug
