Claris CAD: Clipped PICT Images

In Claris CAD 1.0v1 or 1.0v3, the top and left edges of a drawing may be clipped slightly when the file is saved in the PICT format.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
The amount of clipping is minimal and seems to be limited only to lines. Such clipping will be apparent when a PICT file is re-opened in Claris CAD or when a PICT graphic is pasted into a compatible application such as PageMaker.

To recreate, do the following:
- open a new document
- draw a rectangle anywhere on the screen
- unjoin the rectangle to break it up into 4 lines
- save the drawing as a PICT file
- open the PICT file (it will be converted back to the Claris CAD format while it is opened)

One or more of the 4 lines should be missing.

One work around for customers is to draw a white rectangle a little larger than the drawing itself. Send the rectangle to the back so that it is positioned behind all other drawing elements. Because the rectangle is white, it will not affect the way the drawing looks, but it will increase the size of the drawing's bounding box when it is saved as PICT. If anything is clipped, it will be the white rectangle which will not be noticeable.

The best workaround is to upgrade to a later version of the program.
