Claris CAD: Printing Polygons to LaserWriter

Claris CAD prints polygons to PostScript the same way MacDraw II 1.0v1 did. It defines 2 vertices per vertex in order to use the PostScript pen for the lines. This gives better WYSIWYG and makes lines at all angles the same width. However, the LaserWriter has a limit of about 500 vertices that can be described for a single object.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Since Claris CAD is defining 2 vertices per vertex, this means that a polygon with more than about 256 vertices WILL NOT PRINT. Anything above that limit results in such errors as "Limit check: Curveto", or "The objects are fine, but cannot be printed." or the file will print with the offending object missing.

If you would like to confirm how many vertices a polygon has, select the polygon and select"Show Info" from the Layout menu. The "number of points" corresponds to the number of vertices.

Workaround: Polygons can be unjoined and rejoined into smaller polygons that will print correctly to the LaserWriter.
