Claris CAD: Objects Appear Aegmented or Broken up on Screen

In MacDraw II 1.0 or Claris CAD objects appear "broken up" or segmented. Rectangles may appear as two lines; circles could show as two or three arcs and objects may draw about 1/4" away from the hot spot on the cursor.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Explanation:
MacDraw II 1.0 assumes that it is working with a 72 dots-per-inch (dpi) monitor. Normally, this does not cause a problem, because the interface card handles conversion between 72 dpi and whatever density the monitor actually uses. However, newer Apple interface cards (including the interface built-into the Macintosh IIci) and some third-party cards will not perform this conversion in the way MacDraw II expects.

Note: Claris CAD also assumes that it is working with a 72 dots-per-inch (dpi) monitor.

MacDraw II version 1.1 works properly with all Apple interface cards, including those with the new design.

If you need to remedy the problem before your update arrives, here are some workarounds you can use short-term:

1) Use one of the older-style monitor cards in lieu of the built-in interface of your IIci.
2) If you have two monitors, use the Macintosh Control Panel to set the "other" monitor to be the startup monitor.
3) If you have two monitors, use the Macintosh Control Panel to set the "other" monitor to be the startup monitor; often the problem disappears on both screens when you use this configuration.
