The following points explain how MacDraw II and Claris CAD print to color Postscript printers. (There may be slight variations between brands of printers in printing behavior. MacDraw Pro offers full support of color Postscript printing).
- LaserWriter driver 6.0.1 or later must be used to print color
- Rectangles, lines, ovals and arcs will print with both the correct pen and fill colors.
- Bitmap objects colorized in MacDraw II also print with the correct pen and fill colors.
Polygon and Freehand Objects
- Polygons & Freehands with a solid pen color and a white or transparent fill pattern print correctly. Also, Polygons & Freehands with a solid pen color and a black & white dithered fill pattern print correctly.
- Polygons & Freehands with a solid pen color and a solid colored fill pattern will print using the pen color for both the pen and fill. Thus, a polygon with a black pen and a red fill will print with a black pen AND black fill. In addition if the 7.0 LaserWriter driver is used, it will generate a "stack error: underflow, Postcript error: color". To print a polygon with the correct solid fill pattern, set the pen color to transparent. Workaround: to print a polygon with both a pen and fill, create the polygon, add the desired pen and fill color, duplicate the polygon, move the duplicate on top of the original, change the pen color of the topmost polygon to transparent.
- Polygons & Freehands with a solid pen color and a colored dithered fill pattern (two or more colors mixed together) will print as a gray fill. Thus, a green and yellow dithered fill pattern will print black and white. There is no workaround for this.
- Polygons & Freehands with a non-dithered colored pen pattern (brick pattern, striped pattern, etc.) will print one color black and the rest white. There is no workaround for this.
- Polygons & Freehands with a dithered pen pattern will cause the document to not print at all.
Note: MacDraw Pro and Claris CAD 2.0 correct this problem.
