Included with Microsoft Word is a utility called QuickSwitch (it used to be called "Switcher"). QuickSwitch lets you switch back to your graphics application while bypassing the Finder. It supports SuperPaint 1.1 (which is also included with MS Word), but it doesn't support MacDraw II.

The programs will function properly, but when you paste a graphic into Word using the Paste Link Command, you will get a dialog box that says "No Link Info in the Clipboard."
