MacDraw II 1.1: Extremely Slow Performance

If a document is created in MacDraw II 1.0v4 with a large number of objects (several thousand), several layers, large drawing size, and later opened in MacDraw II 1.1, there might be a significant reduction in performance. It might take a minute or two to open the document. It might take several seconds just to select a tool or to scroll.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
The MacDraw II file formats were significantly changed from v1.0 to v1.1. It is thought that this might be the source of the problem. There is no workaround except to continue to use MacDraw II 1.0v4 with those documents.
