This program modifies your MacDraw II application in the following ways:
For users of non-Postscript printers (including the ImageWriters I / II / LQ and LaserWriter IISC):
- Provides higher print resolution
- Disables some printer options, including Faster printing and reduced printing
For users of high-resolution Postscript-based printers (including the Linotronic):
- Increases the lines per inch of the line screen for fill patterns
- Sets the degrees of rotation of the line screen for the four print colors.
Users of 300 dpi Postscript-based printers (including the LaserWriter Plus / IINT / IINTX) will not benefit from MacDraw II Configure, as MacDraw II is already optimized for the best print quality to these printers.
Instructions
1. Check that you have MacDraw II version 1.1 . To verify this while in MacDraw II: hold down the option key and select About MacDraw II from the Apple menu.
2. Run MacDraw II Configure. When the file dialog box appears, click on your working copy of MacDraw II, then click on the Open button. Do not modify your original disk. You will now be at the main screen (see Figure 1 below).
3. Non-Postscript printer users only: Select the button "Always use highest printer resolution".
4. Postscript-based printer users only: Type in the desired number of lines per inch for the line screen for the four colors. Optionally, you can change the rotation of the line screen for each color. This can be useful to reduce moire patterns which can occur during 4-color printing.
5. Click the Save button, then select the Quit command from the file menu.
You can restore your working copy of MacDraw II to its original settings. To restore, run the MacDraw II Configure command, click the Preset button, then the Save button. Finally, select the Quit command from the file menu.
