MacDraw II: LaserWriter Resolution is 288 DPI

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
To improve text and object alignment in MacDraw II, the LaserWriter's resolution has been set to 288 dpi (dots per inch), rather than 300 dpi.

The resolution of the Macintosh screen is 72 dpi. You need to zoom to 400% for precise alignment of text and graphics. Since 72 is a multiple of 288, the 288 dpi resolution works well by maintaining the alignment on the printout that was achieved on the screen.

To change the print resolution of the LaserWriter to 300 dpi, hold down the Option & Command keys while selecting the Preferences dialog box. (No message will appear that the resolution has been changed.)
