MacDraw II: Courier Text Doesn‘t Line Up With Graphics

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Left justified Courier text will not stay aligned with graphics placed near the right end of the text, when printed to a LaserWriter. Because Courier is a monospaced font, deselecting Fractional Character Widths has no affect on this problem. All versions of MacDraw II are affected by this. System version does not influence the problem either.

To reproduce the problem, type a line of 14 point Courier text. Draw a vertical line just before the first character of the text object, and another vertical line just after the last letter. Now, print to a LaserWriter. The printout will show a significant gap between the end of the text object and the rightmost vertical line.
