Early Macintosh computers (Plus, SE, Classic) displayed Outline and Shadow Text Styles as opaque. The inside of the letters was opaque rather than transparent. For example, if Outline Text was placed on top of a filled object (solid or patterned), you could not see through the letters. Macintosh II and newer computers display Outline and Shadow Text Styles as transparent.
Macintosh II-class computers do not display Outline or Shadow Text Styles properly. The inside of the letters will be transparent rather than opaque. So, if you place Outline Text on top of a filled object (solid or patterned), you can see through the letters to the pattern underneath.
The image will print as opaque even though it may be displayed as transparent on screen.
