Claris CAD: Generic Icons

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
This is fixed in Claris CAD 2.0v2.

Sometimes, Claris CAD 2.0v1 and related files will appear as generic icons on the desktop.

The problem should occur only under the following conditions:

1) 1.0 remains on the hard disk after 2.0 is installed, and;
2) 1.0 is closer to the system than 2.0.

In other words, if the system finds 1.0 before it finds 2.0v1 upon booting or installing 2.0v1 it will assign the 1.0 icons to the 2.0v1 files, since they have the same creator type. Unfortunately, there are fewer icons for 1.0 than for 2.0v1.

To remedy the problem (if you insist on keeping 1.0 on the hard disk) is to put 1.0 one folder deeper than 2.0v1 and restart or rebuild the old desktop. It may be necessary to rebuild the desktop more than once.
