Claris CAD 2.0 has difficulties opening 1.0 files created in languages other than the language in which 2.0 was localized. The difficulty lies in the conversion of "Set View" in the Layout menu. Claris CAD 2.0 is looking for these words in the language it is localized in. For example, the English version of Claris CAD 2.0 will look for "set view", whereas the French Claris CAD 2.0 will look for the French translation of "set view". If the program finds these words in another language, it gets hung up.
The workaround is:
1. Open the files in the Claris CAD 1.0 localized in the same language as their copy of 2.0. For example, if you have English 1.0 and wish to upgrade to French 2.0, you should open your files in French 1.0.
2. Select "Set Views..." from the Layout menu.
3. Save the File.
If you do not wish to save this view, you may delete the view by:
4. Selecting "Delete Views..." from the layout menu.
5. Open the file in the desired version of Claris CAD 2.0.
