Claris CAD: Low Memory Alerts on Macintosh SE, Classic, Plus

Working with Claris CAD 1.0 on Macintosh SE's and Pluses that have 1 MB of RAM is a tight squeeze.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

In order to free up memory to run Claris CAD :

- Create a new folder called "Storage".
- Open your existing System Folder.
- Choose "by Kind" from the View menu. This will organize all the files by the type of file they are.
- Place all "Startup documents" and "Control Panel documents" in the "Storage" folder.
- Restart the computer.
- Launch Claris CAD.

If this works, return any control panel and startup documents to the system folder, in order of importance. Restart the computer each time you return documents to the System Folder, then test to insure Claris CAD will run.

One other thing you may wish to look at is the number of fonts and desk accessories present in the System File. Each font or desk accessory uses additional memory.

Claris CAD 2.0 or later requires 2 megabytes of RAM under system 6, and 4 megabytes under System 7.
