Objects drawn in MacDraw II or MacDraw Pro, then brought into other applications, may shift apart slightly. Also, smoothed polygons and freehands may become distorted. This can happen if the objects are brought in via the clipboard, or imported from a PICT file. This happens because the PICT format (which includes the clipboard), rounds the horizontal and vertical placement of the data points that define each object to the nearest 1/72 of an inch.
What to do to reduce this
(MacDraw Pro only) This can be avoided by saving as an EPSF file, then importing the EPSF file into the document in the other application. Use this approach when printing to a Postscript printer.
If using a QuickDraw printer and/or MacDraw II, try the following seven steps:
1) Open the drawing in MacDraw II or MacDraw Pro:
2) Make sure all objects are ungrouped.
3) Turn the Autogrid ON (the menu item should read "Turn Autogrid Off"
4) Go to Rulers, set it to 1 inch = 1 inch, 36 or 72 divisions per inch. Click OK
5) Select All objects
6) In Alignment, choose Align to Grid, Align Left and Align Top
7) Re-copy and Paste into the other application
These steps may reduce the behavior with an existing file. However, it may not be eliminated entirely, as this will not align all the objects' data points to the grid, just the upper left corner. Instead, you'll get better results if you do steps 3 and 4 BEFORE drawing the objects.
