Claris CAD 2.0: Too Much Constraint or Snapping of Objects

Sometimes an object placed at one location may unexpectedly snap to another. This unexpected movement is most noticeable when zoomed in and the grid points are not all visible on the screen or when the object snaps to a point off the screen.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

There is a hierarchy that determines where an object will snap as it is created or moved. At the top of this hierarchy is the modifier that is chosen followed by the Dynamic Modifier, Guideliner, Autogrid, and Caps Lock key. These features exist to help you with precision drawing. To reduce the amount of automatic constraining or snapping of objects, first make sure you are using the correct modifier. Then turn off the Dynamic Modifier, Guideliner, Autogrid, or release the Caps Lock key. Please note that the Caps Lock key is last in the hierarchy. It cannot override those items ahead of it in the hierarchy.
