MacDraw Pro: Character Spacing Increments

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
When editing text, the Show Size bar will display the inter-character spacing of the text. You will see two vertical lines with a number to the right " || x ". This number is a multiple of 4/256ths of the point size of the first character of the selected text.

The displayed number is the change in character spacing (positive or negative) from the default spacing.

The default setting is zero, which means that no extra spacing exists for the selected text.

Refer to the MacDraw Pro Users Guide for information on how to adjust the inter-character spacing.
