Text is drawn to the screen more slowly in MacDraw Pro 1.0 than in MacDraw II or MacDraw Pro 1.5.
The following points explain text behavior and suggest methods of creating text which will offer the fastest performance:
1) Caption text is slower drawing to the screen than typing into a text block.
(Caption text is when you select the text tool, click on the document, then start typing. Thus, you're typing without defining a right border for the text.). Instead, create a text block, then type into the text block. You create a text block by selecting the text tool, then drawing a rectangle on the document. This sets the borders for the text block on all four sides. Then start typing.
2) Inserting text in the middle of a text block is slower than typing text at the end of a text block. (Breaking the text into smaller text blocks speeds up the text editing/redraw.)
3) Text redraw is slower when Kerning by Pairs is on. Turning Kerning by Pairs OFF will speed up text redraw.
