MacDraw Pro: Bitmaps Print with Lines or Moire Patterns

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
MacDraw Pro documents with 72 dpi bitmaps may print the bitmaps with patterns, lines or moire patterns in them when printing to 300dpi printers (such as the LaserWriter and DeskWriter).

In the Page Setup Options, turn on the Precision Bitmap option (or other similarly worded option) to reduce the printing by 4%.

72 dpi bitmaps are not an even fraction of a 300 dpi printer. By reducing the printing by 4%, the bitmap will be 25% of the resolution of the printing (72 Ö 288). Thus, the bitmap will print without patterns in it.

This is not specific to MacDraw Pro. It is required when printing 72 dpi images from all Mac software.
