MacPlot: Roland Plotters

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Both HP & Roland agree that Roland plotters emulate HPs very well. Therefore, in troubleshooting Roland plotters, we treat them as HP plotters. The paper size is the best guide for establishing a correspondence relationship between the two brands. The (0,0) below refers to the origin of the plotter's coordinate system.

To be specific, for:

* For 880A,885,980,980A,990 & DXY 1100,1200,1300 use HP 7475A or 7550A - (0,0) is at lower left.

* For DPX-2000, 2200, 3300, 3500 use HP 7580 or 7585 - (0,0) is Cartesian.

* For GRX-300, 300AR, 400, 400AR use HP 7580 or 7585 - (0,0) at center; number of pens is less in Roland models than in the HP models.

* For LTX-120 use HP 7475 or 7550A

* For LTX-320, 420 use HP 7580 or 7585

* For CAM 1,2,3 use HP 7580.

Note that Roland currently does not have a model featuring page advance with roll feeds, but when they do, our driver will treat it as an HP 7586.

If you have trouble communicating with a Roland plotter set it for 7 data bits, 1 stop bit and even parity. MacPlot doesn't have a setting for data bits (it always uses 7) so set it for 1 stop bit and even parity.
