Q. I want to move an object or a group of objects precisely. I want to move a circle's center to the end point of a line. Is there a quick method of moving objects that will move them all in one step?
A. Yes, there is. Claris CAD 2.0 added this feature. Please follow the directions below.
1. This procedure is easier if you use the graphics guide. First, choose a modifier to help select the point you want the object moved to. Next, click and drag from the ruler number box (the small number in the upper left of the window, where the rulers meet) and move the zero, zero location to the final place that you want the objects to be positioned. For example, if you want to move the center of a circle to the end point of a line, select the End-Point modifier then move the zero, zero location to that endpoint.
2. Select object(s) that you would like to move.
Note: Claris CAD uses it's reference point to relocate the items. The "Reference Point" is also the last point that you clicked on the screen. If you hold down the Option Key and the Command Key at the same time you can see the "Reference Point." It is graphically shown as a circle with a plus on top of it.
3. With the object(s) still selected choose a modifier, hold down the Command-Key and click on the point that you want to move the information from.
For example, if you want to move the center of a circle to the end point of a line. Select the Circle modifier & Command-Click on the center of the circle.
4. Type in the following:
The key marked "\\"
Type an "x"
Type "0" - Note this should be the number zero.
Hit the Tab Key
Type "0" - Note this should be the number zero.
Hit the Enter Key - This key is located on the right side of your keyboard by the keypad
Practice using different modifiers and different object types and groups. With a little practice with this technique you can move a point on any object or group of objects to any other location on the screen.
