Claris CAD: Exporting EPSF Files

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
You can export Claris CAD files to EPSF by using EPSF XTND filter version 1.2v2 or later and the EPSF filter that ships with MacDraw Pro, ClarisWorks, ClarisDraw and ClarisImpact. The translator (EPSF Kit, which includes instructions) are available on request from Customer Relations. You will need Claris CAD 2.0v3 or later to export EPSF.

The EPSF translator that ships with FileMaker Pro will not work in Claris CAD. This translator is named EPSF PFLT. The correct filter will just be EPSF.

To use the filter, just select EPSF in the Save As dialog. The file will be translated upon saving.
You cannot import EPSF into Claris CAD.

Instructions for using the filter are also provided on page 6 of the Release Notes. What you need to know is:
1) Points created with the point tool will not be exported.
2) Type 3 downloadable Postscript fonts will not be saved.
3) Walls need to be unjoined before exporting.

To unjoin all of the walls in a drawing quickly:
1) Open the Layers floater and click on Multi-layer selection.
2) Select the wall tool.
3) Select all.
4) Go under the Arrange menu and select Unjoin.

If you have CGT, you can translate a file from IGES or DXF to EPSF. Translate the file from IGES or DXF to Claris CAD format via CGT, then open the file in Claris CAD and save it out as EPSF.
