Claris CAD: How To Set The Paste Point of an Object

his information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
To set the paste point of an object in Claris CAD:

1) Select the object..
2) Hold down the command key and click the point.

You can use modifiers to select the point, and the point does not have to be on the object itself. In other words, you could draw a circle, select it, hold down shft-cmd and click on a point 1/2" to the right of the circle. When you copy and paste the circle, the circle will paste 1/2" to the left of the last point clicked. There is no way to tell where the paste point is on an object other than clicking a given point then pasting the object and seeing what point on the object pasted at the point that you clicked.

Here's an example: Let's say that you have a square and you want to paste a copy of a circle with their top most points pasted right on the corners of the square:

1) Draw the square and the circle.
2) Select the circle. Use the endpoint modifier (which will find the left, right, bottom or topof a circle), hold down the command key and click the top of the circle. Hit Copy.
3) Use the corner modifier to select the a corner of the square and hit Paste. The circle will paste with its topmost point on the corner. Repeat for the other corners.

Paste points paste at the last point clicked as long as that point is showing in the active window (or is behind a floating window). If the last point clicked is not in the window the object being pasted will appear with the paste point in the center of the current window.

Paste points are retained when objects are pasted into a library objects. You can apply a paste point to a group.
