ClarisWorks: File Not Found Message when Converting Documents

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
ClarisWorks and ClarisImpact use translators to open files created by other software programs. When these translators are not installed properly, you may get a message saying "File not found." All three items below should be found in the folder called "Claris" located in the "System Folder" on a Macintosh and in the Claris directory on a PC.

ClarisWorks Translators (translates spreadsheet & database formats)
- Files ending in .XTD on PC's

Claris XTND System (manages entire conversion process)
- XTND.DLL for the Windows version

Claris Translators folder (contains translator files for word processing & graphics formats)
- This is not used for the Windows version

If one or more of these is missing, re-install the translators using the ClarisWorks Installer disk (Reinstall the entire application for Windows users). If this does not solve the issue then find the file called XTND Translator List (XTNDTRAN.LST for Windows) either in the Claris folder/directory or the Preferences folder and delete it. The XTND Translator List is rebuilt at launch of ClarisWorks or ClarisImpact so make sure the program has had a chance to rebuild this file before trying your conversion again.
