ClarisWork: About Version 1.0v2 Macintosh, Release Notes

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
The update consists of a single disk containing: ClarisWorks, a new ClarisWorks Translators file and a Read Me file.

Changes in 1.0v2 include:

1. Removed low memory crashing when switching to Page View.
2. No longer crashes while opening MS-Works 2.00e Spreadsheet files.
3. Prints in Best mode (144dpi) to the ImageWriter.
4. Allows opening Communications Stationery files from Finder.
5. Now recognizes AppleWorks DB and SS files when copied over AppleShare, or Finder-copied using the software that comes with the Mac LC //e emulator card.
6. No longer reads empty cells as zero from AppleWorks spreadsheet files.
7. No longer installs HyperTour during Easy Install, must use Custom Install.

Here is the beginning of the Read Me file:

Thank you for choosing ClarisWorks. On this disk you will find the latest versions of this Read Me file, the ClarisWorks 1.0v2 application, and the ClarisWorks Translators file.

To install ClarisWorks 1.0v2 simply drag the ClarisWorks icon from this floppy into your ClarisWorks folder thereby replacing the existing application. If you originally installed manually, i.e. without using the Installer Script, you should replace the older version wherever you installed it. Similarly, to install the new ClarisWorks Translators file drag the ClarisWorks Translators icon into the Claris folder in your System Folder. It does not go in the "Claris Translators" folder.

We're excited about this new approach to integrated software, and we hope you enjoy using it. Some late-breaking information couldn't be included in the printed manual, so we're providing it here.

Please read this file carefully. It contains several important tips that will make it easier for you to use ClarisWorks. You may even wish to print this document for future reference.
