Note: ClarisWorks 4.0 includes an envelope assistant to automate printing a single envelope. You can access it by selecting the New command in the file menu, then check to view assistant and stationary files.
Earlier versions of ClarisWorks do not have an automatic Envelope printing utility in the sense that you can launch a ClarisWorks document and just print an envelope.
However, with some formatting, you can easily create Database or Drawing documents (Graphics documents in ClarisWorks 1.0) which will print efficiently on envelopes.
The easiest way to do this:
1. Create a Drawing (Graphics) document.
2. Choose Page Setup from the File Menu and choose an Envelope paper format. (If you do not have an Envelope format that you can choose, this technique will not work.)
3. Choose the landscape orientation.
4. Click Ok.
5. When you get back to your document, you will see that the page looks like an envelope. Click on the Text tool at the top of the toolbar, click in the top left corner of the page, and type your return address.
6. Click on the drawing tool (the pointer) at the top left corner of the toolbar, then click on the Text tool again. Click in the center of the page and type the mailing address.
Try a printout and see how the results look. You might want to print on plain paper to check the placement of your text (hold an envelope over the printout to see where the text would appear on the envelope), and make any necessary adjustments in your document before printing onto real envelopes.
Remember that you will need to switch your document back to a normal page setup before printing on plain paper again. Be sure to go back to Page Setup and change your paper size back to US Letter and your paper orientation back to vertical.
