Claris Resolve: Charting Discontiguous Ranges

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Claris Resolve does not allow you to select discontiguous ranges when charting, however, you can create charts based on discontiguous ranges by using one of the following techniques. The technique you use depends on the physical distance between the ranges being charted. These techniques apply for all chart types.

If your ranges are located close together:

1. Select the entire range including the area you don't want included and chart it.
2. Double click on the series item in the legend of the chart you do not want (or select it and choose Series from the chart menu). This will present the Series dialog box.
3. Click on the Delete button to delete the series from the chart (this will not affect the data on the worksheet).
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each unwanted series.

If your ranges are widely separated on the worksheet:

1. Select the first contiguous group of data and chart it.
2. Double click on the series item in the legend of the chart just above where you want the next series placed.
3. Click the Duplicate button. This will create an exact duplicate of the selected series.
4. Double click on the duplicate series item to bring up the Series dialog box.
5. Change the data range to the next range of data you want charted.
6. Since this is a duplicate, you may want to change the symbol and symbol color (this only applies if the chart contains symbols).
7. Click the OK button.
8. With the duplicate series still selected, choose a new color from the fill color pallet in the tool bar (identified by the paint bucket icon).
9. Repeat steps 2 through 8 for each new series you want to add to the chart.
