MacDraw Pro: Bold Text Appears Plain on Screen

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
When using TrueType fonts, bold text may appear non-bold at 10 pt. size or below. Similar text may appear bold in other programs.

Unlike most other applications, MacDraw Pro gives priority to using the TrueType font over the bitmap font for screen display. TrueType does not render bold text on screen at 10 pt. or less with current system software (7.1/Tuneup 1.1.1).

If you magnify the document view to, say, 200%, so that 10 pt. bold text is displayed at 20 pts.., it will, of course, appear bold on screen. Currently, the only way to make MacDraw Pro display bold text correctly below 11 pt. is to remove that TrueType font from the system.

Other programs will display TrueType fonts similar to MacDraw if the bitmap is removed from the System. This will force the program to use the TrueType bold font, rather than rendering a bold font from the plain bitmap.
