There has been a report of conflicts between ClarisWorks 1.0 and 2 different chooser documents. They are the drivers for the LabelWriter Plus 1.3 and earlier, and the QuickLink Fax driver (QL Fax Print 2.1) which comes with Zoom fax modems.
When you launch ClarisWorks with either of these printer drivers chosen, ClarisWorks will display a spinning beachball and then lock up or hang. With the LabelWriter Plus selected, the system crash can also occur when opening a file or creating a new document. However, some customers have reported using the LabelWriter Plus driver without difficulty. (One customer reported that the regular LabelWriter driver worked fine, but the Net LabelWriter driver, the AppleTalk version, would cause ClarisWorks to hang). You may want to contact the manufacturers to get information about latest versions and possible fixes to the problem.
If you have System 7, you can force ClarisWorks to quit by pressing the Command-option-escape keys simultaneously. With System 6, manually restart using either the Programmer's restart switch or turning the computer off and on again.
With the QuickLink Fax software, the lockup can be avoided by turning off 32-bit addressing in the Memory control panel or by selecting another printer in the Chooser before launching ClarisWorks.
