ClarisWorks: Full Justified Text Gets Clipped

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
If you use the Insert Date or Insert Time commands in the Edit menu to add an item to a full-justified paragraph, the last character on the right side may get clipped by the right margin. This is particularly pronounced when the date is in long format (e.g. January 21, 1991).

The explanation is that the Insert command adds a symbol which ClarisWorks fills in with the date or time, but ClarisWorks does not properly calculate the length of the date or time, resulting in clipped text.

Text on the right side will also get clipped if you create a graphic text object, and format it as italic, full-justification.

If you have ClarisWorks for Windows, you may be able to work around this problem in Windows by turning on Print TrueType as Graphics. Within ClarisWorks, choose Print Setup from the File menu and click the Options button. Select the Print True Type as Graphics check box and click OK. This may slow down printing, but the text should no longer clip.

NOTE: The option for TrueType as graphics is not available as an option in all laser printers, and dot matrix and ink jet printers do not have this capability.
