ClarisWorks: Installer Conflict with At Ease 1.0

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
At Ease 1.0, a system extension from Apple Computer, is a finder substitute that allows the user to use passwords to limit access to specific files and folders. This extension is likely to have broad appeal to educational sites, where such limitations may be desirable.

There has been a report of the ClarisWorks Installer not functioning properly when At Ease is being used. The solution was to deinstall At Ease before installing ClarisWorks, using the At Ease Installer in conjunction with the option key. Holding down the option key will toggle the Install button to Remove. Simply moving or deleting the At Ease files causes a System crash.

In our testing, there was no problem installing ClarisWorks with At Ease. At Ease settings such as access limitations and passwords may be factors in the reported installer problem.
