ClarisWorks: "This is a ClarisWorks 1.0 document" Alert

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Problem: When opening a new document in ClarisWorks 2.0, you may see this alert:

This is a ClarisWorks 1.0 document. A copy will be opened in 2.0 format and "[v2.0]" will be added to the filename." This is acutally normal the first time a 1.0 document is opened with 2.0. However, if you are seeing the same dialog repeatedly on opening the same document read on.

Solution: You have an automatic stationery file in your Claris folder that was created using ClarisWorks 1.0. Whenever you open a new document in version 2.0, ClarisWorks is opening and converting this file.

(An automatic stationery file is a stationery file named "ClarisWorks WP Options", ClarisWorks SS Options", etc.)

To make this alert stop appearing whenever you open a new file:
1- Open a new document
2- From ClarisWorks 2.0, save as an automatic stationery file, replacing the existing file (see page 2-22 in the ClarisWorks 2.0 Handbook for further instructions)

- Or -

delete this file from the Claris folder on your hard drive, and create a new one in ClarisWorks 2.0.
