Perfect Circles or Squares and the Shift Key Constraint (DR)

Q: I hold down the Shift Key to draw out a perfect Circle or Square and it comes out as an Oval or Rectangle. What's happening?

A: You've discovered a feature which is allowing you to set the angle of the diagonal of an ellipse, rectangle, or rounded rectangle. To create a square or circle:

- Under the Edit menu, choose Preferences*.
- Click on the Graphics icon.
- Reset the number for the Mouse constraint back to 45¡.

See pages 2-55 and 4-5,6 in the ClarisWorks 2.0 User's Guide. (Item 3 on page 4-6 should say "rectangles, rounded rectangles, and ovals")

*ClarisImpact:
Preferences is located under the Layout menu.
