Spreadsheet and Text Frames in Paint Environment

Spreadsheet and text frames are converted to a bitmap in the Paint Environment as soon as you leave the frame.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

Spreadsheet Frames
If you create a Spreadsheet frame in the ClarisWorks 2.0 Painting environment and then click outside the frame, the spreadsheet is instantly converted to a bitmap. Consequently, you will not be able to add any more numbers or calculations to your Spreadsheet frame.

To prevent accidentally converting your spreadsheet into a bitmap before you are ready, create the spreadsheet in the Spreadsheet module and then copy/paste the data into a spreadsheet frame. Save a copy of the spreadsheet from the Spreadsheet module in case you need to update your Spreadsheet frame.

Text Frames
A text frame in a Paint document is fully editable until you leave the frame (i.e. select another tool) at which time the frame is bitmapped. If the Invisible Formatting Characters are showing at the time the frame is bitmapped then the Invisibles will also be bitmapped.

ClarisWorks 2.0 shows and hides Invisibles through Preferences, the Shortcuts palette and Command-;
