In Claris Works 2.0 and ClarisImpact, holding down the option key while selecting Print bypasses the Print dialog, sending the document directly to the currently selected printer.
Fax Drivers
Many FAX utilities allow you to fax from any application by pressing a key sequence when selecting Print. Normally the fax dialog comes up, and allows you to enter the phone number and cover page information. Since holding down the option key (plus any other key, if applicable) will send your document to the fax utility without a dialog, this has the undesired result of faxing to the last phone number used in the fax utility or printing to the currently selected printer.
Workarounds
Some fax utilities will allow you to select a new key sequence to activate them. Choose a sequence that does not use the option key (example: command-shift). If you cannot change the activation key from option to something else, you can:
1. Manually select the fax driver in the Chooser.
2. Use a macro utility like QuicKeys2 to change printer drivers with a key sequence.
3. Go ahead and option-Print, but cancel printing before the document goes to the fax utility by pressing command-period when you see the printing status dialog. Doing another option-Print will bring up the Print dialog for you to specify a phone number. For each document you fax, you will need to cancel the printing status dialog and option print again to bring up the Print dialog.
