Entering Invisible Characters with Command Key in the Find Dialog (WP)

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
ClarisWorks can search for invisible formatting characters such as tabs, returns and column/page breaks. For a complete list, refer to page 2-30 of the User's Guide for ClarisWorks 2.0.

The manual states that you can use Command-Tab to enter a tab, Command-Return for a return and Command-Enter for a break. However, using these key commands causes the find to be performed immediately and does not let you enter additional settings.

Workaround:
Use the alternate methods listed in the manual and below in place of the Command-key sequences.

\\t = Tab
\\p = Return
\\c = Page or Column Break

NOTE: This problem does NOT occur in ClarisWorks 1.0
