Kerning Incorrect When Using Generic / Text Only Printer Driver

The Generic / Text Only printer driver does not support graphics, which includes TrueType fonts, but ClarisWorks does not remove TrueType fonts from the Font Menu to reflect this limitation.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

If the kerning or spaces between characters appears too tight in some places, and too loose in others, make sure the default printer driver is not set to Generic/Text Only. The Generic / Text Only printer driver does not support graphics, which includes TrueType fonts, but ClarisWorks for Windows 1.0 still lists TrueType fonts in the Font menu.

To restore proper kerning, you should first select a different printer driver to be the default printer in the Windows Control Panel. Select all the text in your ClarisWorks document and choose the font that you want to use from the Other... item in the Font menu, even if the font appears in the Font menu list.
