WK1 Files Lose All Text Color Formatting When Translated into the ClarisWorks Spreadsheet Format

When importing or exporting information from or to the WK1 or WK3 format, text color, font, and style information is lost. This is because our translation system only looks for the actual spreadsheet file, and not for the FMT (formatting) file that accompanies it.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

When importing WK1 files into ClarisWorks for Windows 1.0v1, all of the text color formatting is lost.

No color, font or style information is being imported or exported in any of the Lotus filters currently. Only WK1 and WK3 formats support formatting information, and they do it by using a second file to keep this information (.FMT and .FM3). Our filter system is not currently setup to deal with input and output to two different files at once.

At this time, there is no workaround for this, other than to re-stylize the text once it is translated into the ClarisWorks format.
