Backing Up Original Diskettes

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
1. Initialize enough blank double-sided disks for the job.
2. Insert each new disk and when you are asked to initialize it, click on Two Sided.
3. Eject the initialized disk by dragging its icon to the trash.
4. Double-click the icon of your hard drive to to open its window.

One disk at a time, follow this procedure:

1. Insert one of the original disks.
2. Drag the icon of the disk on top of the icon of the hard drive (this will copy it).
3. Eject the original disk by dragging its icon to the trash.
4. In the window for your hard drive, click once on the new folder just created.
5. Under the Edit menu, choose Copy.
6. Insert a blank, initialized floppy and click once on its icon to select it.
7. Press the Return key once (this selects the title below the icon).
8. Under Edit, choose Paste.
9. Double-click the icon of the new folder on your hard drive to open its window.
10. Under the Edit menu, choose Select All.
11. Drag any one of the now selected icons to the icon of the floppy disk (this will copy all its files onto the floppy).

12. Close the new folder's window, and drag this folder into the trash.
13. Eject the newly copied disk by dragging its icon to the trash.

Repeat the steps with each of the other original disks.

To do the actual installation:
1. Iinsert the backup disk of the Installer.
2. Double-click its icon to open it.
3. Double-click the icon of the Installer and follow the instructions.
