Certain printer-resident fonts such as Symbol and Zaph Dingbats do not have an italic face. Applying an italic style to them will make them appear and print as italic. However, when a document with these fonts formatted as italic is saved as an EPSF file, reopened in MacDraw Pro and printed, the fonts appear italic but do not print as plain. This was tested with MacDraw 1.5v2 and EPSF translator 1.0v3. To duplicate the problem:
1. Create a new document.
2. Create a text object in a font that is resident on your printer (e.g. Symbol). Leave it as Plain Style.
3. Duplicate it or create a new text object in the same font. Choose Italic from the Style menu.
4. Choose Save and select EPSF from the file type pop-up menu. Name the file and Save.
5. Choose Open from the File menu and open the file you saved.
6. Notice that the font appears as italic on screen but prints as Plain text to a LaserWriter.
