How to Resize Rotated Items

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Rotated objects do not resize the way other objects do. When resizing, ClarisCAD uses the non-rotated position of the object, adjusts it, then reapplies the rotation angle. For example, if you widen a group containing a rectangle rotated 90 degrees, the rectangle will actually end up taller after the resize.

If you need the object to resize in proportion to other objects in a group, try the following:

1. Save out the group as a PICT file, then open it back into ClarisCAD. The object will then resize as expected.

2. Ungroup the objects, select any rotated polygons and squares, and choose Unjoin from the Arrange menu. This has the effect of making ClarisCAD "forget" the objects were rotated. To reassemble the unjoined polygons, shift select each line that forms a polygon, and when all parts of a polygon are selected choose Join from the Arrange menu. If you now re-group all previously grouped objects, they should resize as expected.
