Sometimes you print your worksheet and cells that show properly on the screen are filled with asterisks on the printout. Or, the legend disappears from a chart you've constructed.
The problem is that measurements for fonts and graphic items can differ slightly between screen resolution (72 dpi) and printer resolution (300 dpi or more).
- If cells are filled with asterisks ("******"), zoom into 400%. The asterisks should appear here, and you can make minor adjustments to the column width so the value will fit. Viewing at 400% gives you a more accurate picture of what Resolve is sending to the printer.
- If charts change their appearance, ungroup them before printing. Normally, Claris Resolve automatically designs charts for the best appearance. Changes in object measurements at the higher, printed resolution can cause Resolve to change its mind about what will look attractive. Ungrouping a chart turns off this auto-design feature.
- Check page setup. If font substitution is active, the printer will be using different fonts than you specified on-screen.
Select the right range for regression analysis
The Regression Range (or Matrix Range) defined when using the Regression option in the Matrix dialog box must include at least one row more that the number of columns specified.
For example: If your Regression Range includes one Dependent variable and two Independent variables (three columns) then at least four rows (observations) must be defined (five if column titles are included).
If fewer rows than columns are defined, Claris Resolve will report, "Insufficient number of observations." If the same number of rows and columns are specified, you'll be told, "No observations." Valid results are obtained only when there are more rows (observations) than columns (variables).
