Some CWUG members report that they cannot transfer ClarisWorks files into other applications after they install System 7.1. The problem manifests itself by either not letting you export files from ClarisWorks into other applications or by creating files that you cannot read with the other application.
The CWUG members who experienced difficulties all used Apple's System 7.1 updater package for System 7.0 and 7.01. The problem did not occur when members installed Apple's complete System 7.1 package.
However, you do not need the complete System 7.1 package. If you cannot export your ClarisWorks files, just reinstall ClarisWorks after you update to System 7.1.
CWUG member Steve Taffee suggests that you also replace the Claris translators (in the Claris Translators Folder in your System Folder) whenever you experience problems importing or exporting files. Then use the Finder to remove the "XTND Translator List" file from your System Folder (for System 6.x users) or the Preferences Folder within your System Folder (for System 7.x users). ClarisWorks creates this file to keep track of its translators and does not notice changes in the translators unless you force the program to recreate the file.
We remove the XTND Translator List file from our System at the first sign of problems with the translators. ClarisWorks recreates that file the next time you launch the program.
