Numbers entered with text characters will be seen as text with numeric value of 0

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Typing a comma or a dollar sign in a numeric entry in a spreadsheet cell will cause Resolve to see the entry as text, rather than as a number. The result is that the entered value will be aligned left and will not be usable in a calculation. (The text value will be seen to have a numeric value of 0)

To solve the problem, remove any non-numeric characters from the cell. To have the numeric value show up as currency, select the cell, choose CURRENCY under NUMERIC in the FORMAT menu.
