New Document Shortcut Not Using ClarisWorks Option File (All)

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
If you have set up ClarisWorks 2.0 options files, and you open new documents using the Shortcuts palette , you'll find ClarisWorks won't use your options file; it will simply create a new, standard document. Using the Shortcuts palette bypasses the "New Document" dialog box; this prevents the Options file from being applied.

There are two workarounds:

Open new documents from the "New" menu choice from the File menu.

Record a macro to open a new document. Be sure to select "With Shortcut" in the Record Macro dialog box. If you also choose "In Short Cuts Palette", you will be able to create a new document whether or not you have existing documents open. (The new document Shortcuts provided with ClarisWorks are only visible when there are no documents open).

Please see page 2-20 of the ClarisWorks 2.0 User's Guide for information on options files. See page for 8-50 of the ClarisWorks 2.0 User's Guide for information on Shortcuts and Macros.

This problem has been fixed in versions 2.1 - 4.0.
