An application designed for Windows 3.0/3.1 such as FileMaker Pro 2.0, 2.1 or ClarisWorks 1.0 for Windows run in Windows NT in what is called WOW (Windows on Windows) emulation. When running FileMaker Pro or ClarisWorks in this emulation mode any other 16-bit application also running is dependent on this emulation session. If one 16-bit application crashes or locks up, all other 16-bit applications running in the WOW will also lock and cannot be accessed until you close the application that crashed.
To close a crashed application in Windows NT:
1. Press the Ctrl key, Alt key, and Del key on your keyboard all at the same time.
2. Choose Task List, select the application that has stopped responding and click "End Task". This will free all other 16-bit applications running.
Note: Any 16-bit application running in Windows NT will be in a single WOW emulation.
