When you select certain models in ClarisImpact, you might see two different types of borders on the model frames. When a model is first created a gray border surrounds the model frame. The gray border indicates that you are working within that model and can modify the elements within (such as adding more rows to a Table).
If only the selection handles appear around the model then it is only possible to modify the model frame itself (such as changing the border color of the model), but not its contents. Try the following steps to see the difference:
1. Create a new model and notice that the new model has a gray border around the edge (and possibly selection handles on each corner)
2. Click anywhere on white space and notice that the model is only selected with handles on each corner
3. Click on the white space again and notice that the model is completely deselected
4. Now try clicking on the model again and notice that only the selection handles will appear
5. Click once more on the model and the gray border will appear
Furthermore, the gray border comes in two varieties: a gray border with selection handles and a gray border with no selection handles. The only two models that do not have selection handles with the gray border are Organizational Chart and Flow Chart. The reason is that it is possible to resize all models except for Flow Chart and Organizational Chart by dragging the selection handles. ClarisImpact gives you instant feedback so that you do not have to remember which models can be resized and which cannot.
NOTE: Objects other than models do not have two levels of selection. For example, if you draw a star, the only indication that the star is selected are the selection handles on each corner.
