To make launching the first 16-bit application faster, create a icon for WOWEXEC.EXE and put it in the STARTUP group.
Microsoft Windows NT is a 32-bit true operating environment. This does not mean that it cannot run a 16-bit application such as FileMakerPro or ClarisWorks. It will run them in an emulation mode, Window On Window (WOW). WOW is only started when the first 16-bit application is started in Windows NT; therefore, it takes longer for the first application to actually launch.
