When adding element styles for a Timeline, Chart or Table you have the added capability of copying the currently selected element to the Element editor. This makes it very easy to take an element that you have been working with, and define it as a style. This is done by clicking the Extract button. Follow these steps to locate the Extract button:
1. Create a Chart (or a Timeline or a Table)
2. Select an element in the Chart such as a bar from a bar chart
3. Choose Element Styles... from the Chart menu
4. Click once on the triangle that appears in the resulting palette
5. Click on the Add button
6. The Extract button should be in the lower left hand corner of the resulting dialogue box
